Somali National Library and UNSOM Human Rights Group Explore Collaboration

Mogadishu, December 22 — The Somali National Library (SNL), led by Director General Mr. Mohamud Mohamed Siad, held a fruitful meeting with the Human Rights and Protection Group (HRPG) at the UNSOM compound. The meeting, proposed by Kirsten and confirmed by Mohamud for 10:30 AM, aimed to strengthen collaboration between the two institutions.

The DG and his delegates were warmly welcomed by the HRPG leadership, who briefed them on their activities. The discussions focused on aligning the library’s upcoming projects with human rights perspectives, including library rehabilitation, legislative frameworks, collection development, and capacity building initiatives.

Both sides expressed mutual enthusiasm for future cooperation, emphasizing the importance of integrating human rights principles into the library’s development efforts. The meeting concluded on a positive note, with shared commitments to foster partnership and support Somalia’s cultural and human rights advancements.
